Peru is located in western South America and is bordered by the South Pacific Ocean to the west,
Equador and Colombia to the north, Brazil and Bolivia to the east and Chile to the South. It is the third largest country
in South America, coverring 1.28 million sqare miles. The climate of Peru varies from tropical in east to dry desert in west
and then temperate to frigid in the Andes. The western part of Peru is mostly a dry coastal plain. The center section
of Peru is the Andes Mountains. The Andes start lower and expand into cold, high altitude grasslands and then into
a high altitude plateau which joins Peru with Bolivia. To the east of the Andes, Peru lowers into the Amazon River Basin or
the Amazon Rainforest.
